While living her best life on vacation, Emily Ratajkowski posted a photo with her friend Caitlin King on the beach. The black and white Instagram showcases the two friends wearing Inamorata, the swimwear line Ratajkowski founded. But soon after sharing the photo, trolls began body-shaming EmRata’s friend in the comment section—and the model was having none of it.
The gross comments ranged from shady, rude sentiments like “Instagram vs. reality” and “There are 2 types of women” to outright vicious responses like “This is what a big Mac looks like in real life vs billboard.”
Thankfully, not everyone agreed with the negative sentiments, including EmRata and a large amount of her female followers. “Stop saying her friend is not beautiful and stop saying Emily shouldn’t have posted that because its not ‘nice for her friend.’ her friend obviously agreed with her posting it and she should have because there’s no shame in being a woman and being a woman means being beautiful,” wrote @sophiedcrnau.
The comment, which has over 2,300 likes, received a reply from EmRata herself.
“I love my friends body and both her and I think she looks great here! And I’m proud she’s rocking my suits. All these haters are crazy. Just because you’re used to seeing one body type on the internet doesn’t mean that that’s the only kind that should be considered ‘beautiful,'” Ratajkowski said.
The model also addressed the trolls and negativity on Twitter. Sharing a screenshot appropriately captioned, “thank u, next,” the model wrote:
“I love my girls body and her and I both she she looks great here and that this is a very cute pic of us getting severe sunburns,” she wrote. “I’m so proud she wears my suits. Different bodies are beautiful and I hope y’all learn that soon.”
Don’t mess with EmRata.
